Columbia Police

Jan. 24

Columbia police and EMS assisted Illinois State Police in responding shortly after 3:30 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash on I-255 southbound at the Columbia exit onto Route 3 across from George Weber Chevrolet. Initial reports indicate there were no injuries reported in the incident.

Jan. 27 

Jeffrey S. Porter, 40, of Fairview Heights, was arrested for DUI at 10:45 p.m. on Palmer Road at Rueck Road. Porter was also charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal stopping/parking.

Monroe County Sheriff

Jan. 25

Ian M. Hines, 30, of Steeleville, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia as the result of a traffic stop on Route 3 at Kaskaskia Road south of Waterloo. He was also arrested on a Randolph County probation violation for possession of methamphetamine. 

Jan. 26

Tony S. Shanley, 58, of Cahokia Heights, was charged with armed violence (Category 1) for allegedly being in possession of a Taurus PT7380 ACP semi-automatic handgun while also in possession of methamphetamine.

Sara R. Pickering, 34, of Dupo, was charged with armed violence (Category 1) for allegedly being in possession of a Ruger 9 mm handgun while also in possession of psilocybin mushrooms.

Jan. 27

Shawn R. Murphey, 41, of Wood River, was arrested at Red Roof Liquor & Lottery, 301 Southport Drive in Columbia, on a Monroe County warrant for aggravated DUI (driving while license suspended).

Jan. 30

Katye E. Green, 33, of Mineral Point, Mo., was charged with possession of methamphetamine following an Oct. 8, 2023, incident in Monroe County.

Waterloo Police 

Jan. 23

Waterloo police responded shortly after 7:10 p.m to the area just north of Outsider tavern on Market Street after a pedestrian was struck on the sidewalk at the parking lot of Ja Bowl Asian Express following the Queen of Hearts drawing. The 35-year-old male driver was pulling his vehicle out of the parking lot and struck a 79-year-old man who was walking in the area at that time. The pedestrian refused medical transport but did sustain some scrapes on his hand as a result of the incident.
