Emergency personnel responded shortly after 7:30 p.m. Saturday to the report of a motorcycle crash involving a deer with possible injuries on Route 3 just north of the YMCA near Columbia.

The motorcyclist, Jessie Liefer, 31, of Red Bud, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a leg injury. Initial reports indicate that a deer crossed in front of Lifer’s motorcycle, leading to the crash.
