Joan I. M. Dickerson | Obituary

Joan Ida Margaret Dickerson (nee Miester), of Saint Charles, Mo., died Feb. 8, 2024, at the age of 93. 

Joan was a proud charter member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, she was known by her loved ones as “The Church Lady” because of her devotion to the church and Christ. 

Joan grew up in Fults, where she met her dear husband Troy. They married in 1949 and moved to St. Charles in the 1950s. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing and embroidery. Joan loved ice cream, camping and traveling; but most of all, she adored her family and devoted her life to them. 

Joan was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

She is the beloved wife of the late Troy Dickerson; cherished daughter of the late John and Alma Miester; devoted mother of Ruth Woodworth and Claudia (Rich) Pohrer; loving grandmother of Ryan (Bridget) Woodworth, Christina (Keven) Sheehy and Richie Pohrer; treasured great-grandmother of Andi Woodworth, Troy Woodworth and Loreli Sheehy; Joan is also survived by her dear friend, Walt Kroeger. 

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 19 at Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, St. Charles, Mo. 

A funeral service will follow at the church

Memorials may be made in Joan’s name to Good Shepherd UCC. 

The family is being served by Baue Funeral Home.
