Catherine Gilbert | Obituary

Catherine Gilbert, nee Dickneite, 88, of Valmeyer, died March 8, 2015 in Valmeyer.

She was born Oct. 14, 1926 in Valmeyer, daughter of the late Ben and Elnora L. Dickneite, nee Engel.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Valmeyer and the altar society.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Carnel A. Gilbert; children Larry Gilbert, Gary (Nancy) Gilbert and Diane Huffman; grandchildren Christine (Duane) Brinkmann, Adam (Lisa) Gilbert, Allen (Kelli) Gilbert, Angela (Brett) Crawford, Beth (Mark) Huesohn, Gary (Carrie) Gilbert, Sharon (Terry) Marquardt, Bryan Huffman (Patty Donley), Stephanie Huffman, Shannon (Brian) Eckart; step-granddaughter Jodi (Steven) Gardner; 22 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; sisters and brothers Emma Diemert, Marie Yount, Eileen (Donald) Goldschmidt, Elsie Brandon, George (Polly) Dickneite; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Ray Huffman, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. March 11 and 8 to 9:15 a.m. March 12 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo.

A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. March 12 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Valmeyer.

Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Madonnaville.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Church in Valmeyer, Oak Hill Activity Fund or the Hospice of Southern Illinois.
