Bonnie K. Hitzemann | Obituary

Bonnie K. Hitzemann, 73, of Red Bud, died April 22, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family.  

She was born to the late Kenneth and Geneva (nee Hanebutt) Stellhorn on Oct. 22, 1950, in Red Bud. 

Bonnie married Gerald Hitzemann on Aug. 9, 1969, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie); he survives.  

She worked at First State Bank of Red Bud for 18 years.  In 2012, Bonnie left the bank to care for grandchildren until they went to school.  

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie).

Bonnie always put the needs of others before her own, even in her last days. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Her kindness and generosity will live on through all the lives she’s touched, particularly her grandchildren.  

She is survived by her husband Gerald Hitzemann of Red Bud; sons Chris (Beth) Hitzemann of Columbia and Andrew (Theresa) Hitzemann of Columbia; sister Lynnette Stellhorn of Red Bud; sisters-in-law Geraldine Eggerding of Belleville and Lynn (Tom) Hubert of Red Bud; grandchildren Ella, Evan and Luke Hitzemann; bonus grandchildren Maddox, Camden and Quincy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Becky Stellhorn; brothers Karl Stellhorn and Darryl Stellhorn; brother-in-law John Eggerding; nephews Devin and Derek Stellhorn;’ and in-laws Edwin and Esther Hitzemann.

Visitation is 4–8 p.m. April 25 at Pechacek Funeral Homes, Red Bud and 10–11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie).

A funeral service will follow visitation at the church with Rev. Scott Hojnacki officiating.

Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Red Bud (Prairie).

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie).
