Vernon W. Jacobs | Obituary

Vernon W. Jacobs, 87, of Waterloo, died Aug. 31, 2013, in Red Bud.

He was born May 4, 1926, in Fults, son of the late Henry and Wilhelmine Jacobs (nee Kaestner).

He was married to Alvera W. Jacobs (nee Dehne); she survives him.

Mr. Jacobs was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Waterloo Senior Center, Renault American Legion #1215, Beaver Lake Association, and was a former member of Waterloo Sportsman’s Club.

Survivors include his wife; son Allen V. (Pam) Jacobs, and David Jacobs; brothers Henry (Darlene) Jacobs, and Melvin (Pat) Jacobs; and sister-in-law Delores Rubemeyer; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Otto Jacobs and Wilmer Jacobs, and sisters Nelda Jacobs and Esther Johanning.

Visitation was Sept. 2, at Quernheim Funeral Home, and Sept. 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Funeral services were Sept. 3, at the church, Pastor Tony Troup and Pastor Matt Clark officiating.

Interment followed at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Window Restoration Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
