Ruth Alma Gruenewald

Ruth Alma Gruenewald (nee Mueller), 81, of Millstadt, died March 20, 2013, in St. Louis.

She was born July 26, 1931, in Columbia, daughter of the late Herbert L. Sr. and Alma Mueller (nee Ahrnes).

She was married to Lester Gruenewald for 38 years; he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gruenewald was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Zion Evangelical Women’s Fellowship, Bluff Grange and was a charter member of Millstadt Sister Cities.

Survivors include her children Linda (Robert) Germann of Millstadt, Carol (Al) Schlather of St. Louis, Diane (Michael) Germann of Millstadt, Dale (Krista) Gruenewald of Millstadt, and David (Sharon) Gruenewald of Millstadt; grandchildren Krista Germann, Tom Germann, Emily Berra, Katie Schlather, Matthew Germann, Cassie Wienhoff, Erica Gruenewald, Darren Gruenewald, Caleb Gruenewald, Sarah Gruenewald and Jacob Gruenewald; great-granddaughter Josephine Berra; and sister Helen Rey; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Herbert L. Mueller Jr.

Visitation was March 22, at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home, Millstadt. Funeral services were March 23, at Zion Evangelical Church, Millstadt. Interment followed at Zion Evangelical Church, Millstadt.

Memorials may be made to Zion Evangelical Church, Millstadt.
