Carl J. Huch

Carl J. Huch, 97, of Columbia, died Sept. 1, 2013, in Waterloo.

He was born May 13, 1916, in Columbia, son of the late Jacob and Minnie Huch (nee Stumpf).

He was married to the late Marie C. Huch (nee Kraft); she preceded him in death.

Mr. Huch was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, where he was a consistory member. He was a board member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau and Monroe County HIA, and was a member of Columbia Gymnastic Association.

He played with the Waterloo Municipal Band for more than 35 years, and he also played in Woodcock’s Polka Band.

Survivors include his children Paul (Shirley) Huch and Janet (Dennis) Rippelmeyer; grandchildren Mike Huch and Jenna (Jeremy) Heinlein; great-grandchildren Macy Ann Heinlein and Addison Marie Heinlein; and companion and friend Viola Sinn.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister Elberta Korves and brother Ernst Huch.

Visitation was Sept. 3, at Quernheim Funeral Home, and Sept. 4, at St. Paul United Church of Christ.

Funeral services were Sept. 4, at the church, Pastor Bob Goddard officiating.

Interment followed at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia.
