Thursday crash on I-255 near JB Bridge

Emergency personnel responded about 9:40 a.m. Thursday to a multi-vehicle crash on I-255 westbound just west of the Fish Lake Overpass near the Jefferson Barracks Bridge in Columbia.

Assisting the Illinois State Police at the scene were the Columbia Police Department, Columbia EMS and Columbia Fire Department.

The ISP said a Jeep Wrangler driven by 23-year-old Matthew E. Crouch of Coweta, Okla., was traveling in the left lane and a Ford Escape was in the second lane. For unknown reasons, the Jeep began to change lanes into the second lane and struck the Ford. Both units then ran off the roadway and ended up in the right ditch, with with the Jeep overturning. No injuries were reported on scene.

Crouch was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, the ISP said.
