The Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic School eighth grade girls volleyball squad won a regional championship on Thursday to advance to this weekend’s Southern Illinois Jr. High School Athletic Association Class S state tournament.

The Falcons, who recently completed an undefeated conference schedule and won their conference tournament, defeated both New Athens and St. John’s Lutheran (Red Bud) in two sets to capture the regional title.

SPPCS will open state tourney play Saturday morning in Herrin against St. Mary’s (Willow Grove).
