Ray E. Hesterberg
Ray E. Hesterberg, 78, of Waterloo, died Jan. 24, 2013, in St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 20, 1934, in Maeystown, son of the late Raymond H. and Frieda W. Hesterberg (nee Juelfs).
He was married to Shirley Hesterberg (nee Kurtz); she survives him.
Mr. Hesterberg was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Waterloo American Legion. He was formerly employed at Gateway FS, and was a member of Waterloo Country Club.
Survivors include his wife; children Michael (Carolyn) Hesterberg; Brett (Barb) Hesterberg; and Nancy (Chris) James; grandchildren Chelsea Hesterberg, and Aidan and Ryan James; sisters Doris (Willard) Meister, and Lil Hohnbaum; and sister-in-law Laverne Hesterberg; along with nieces, nephews, a cousin and friends.
In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Vernon Hesterberg, and brother-in-law Eugene “Hoagy” Hohnbaum.
Visitation was Jan. 28, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo, and Jan. 29, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.
Funeral services were Jan. 29, at the church, Pastor Keith Karau officiating.
Interment followed at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.
