Mary E. Hicks | Obituary

Mary E. Hicks, nee Miles, 92, of Waterloo, died Sept. 16, 2014 in St. Louis.

She was born July 2, 1922 in Mitchie, daughter of the late Elmer and Lena Miles, nee Theis.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Waterloo and Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by children Carol (William) Snodgrass, Arthur “Buddy” (Angel) Hicks, Rose (Terry) Michael, Debbie (Ron) Johnson); dear family friend Roger Mueller; grandchildren Scott (Stacy) Snodgrass, Chrissy Sperduto, Amy (Chris) Schlemmer, Melissa Rednour, Suzanne (Todd) Sturman, Denise hicks, Ryan (Lucretia) Hicks, Travis Pennington (fiancée Jennifer Forshee); granddaughter-in-law Joyce (Kevin) Wheat; great-grandchildren Eli and Emma Snodgrass, Alison Snodgrass, Samantha Wheat, Dylan Michael, Brenden Schlemmer, Haley Rednour, Courtney and Rylee Sperduto, Wade, Blythe and Gage Sturman, and Adam Hicks; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur “Bud” G. Hicks (7/14/1999), grandson Brian Snodgrass, brother Elmer Miles Jr., sisters Alma (Lyman) Monroe, Geneva (Al) Futrell and Annabelle (Art) Seidel.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 19 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 20 at First Baptist Church in Waterloo.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 20 at the church.

Interment will follow at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo.

Memorials may be made to the church or Shriner’s Burn Center.
