Howard and Michael Sue Schmidt, nee Merchant, of Waterloo, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 22.

They were married July 25, 1964 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Cahokia.

The Schmidts had a casual outdoor party at their home with their three children and spouses, 18 of their 19 grandchildren, family, extended family and friends.

Their children are Philip (Laura) Schmidt, Matthew (Sabrina) Schmidt and Elizabeth Mack.
