Erna van Buren | Obituary

Erna van Buren, 96, of Red Bud, died April 19, 2014 in Red Bud.

She was born March 13, 1918 in Lenzburg, daughter of William Moeller and Hulda Lange.

Erna was married to the late Amos van Buren on Aug. 31, 1941 at St. John’s Lutheran. Amos died Jan. 15, 2001.

She was retired from Red Bud Regional Hospital and was a homemaker.

Erna was a memner of St. John’s Lutheran Church, St. John’s Mission Society and the Sunshine Ministry of St. John’s.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting and embroidery.

Erna is survived by sons and daughters Susan H. van Buren of St. Louis, Denis (Brenda) van Buren of Red Bud, Richard (Laurie) van Buren of Red Bud; grandchildren Barry van Buren, Stacy van Buren, Wendy (Greg) Jones, Jamie (Joe) Korando and Jonathon van Buren; great-grandchildren Natalie, Colin, Avery, Kinley and Grady; brothers and sisters Alvin (Ginny) Moeller, Richard (Jane) Moeller, Lois Fuhrhop, Elsie (Wayne) Miller and sister-in-law Edna Moeller, all of Red Bud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Rita Ann, brothers Wilmer and Paul Moeller, sister Lucille Deterding, brothers-in-law Leroy Fuhrhop and Harold Deterding and sister-in-law Dorothy Moeller.

Visitation took place April 22 at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home and April 23 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud.

A funeral service took place April 23 at the church.

Interment followed at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Expansion Fund.
