Charles William Laurent

Charles William Laurent, 79, of Champaign, died June 1, 2013, at his residence following a brief illness.

Charles retired from the Illinois Power Company after a dedicated career of 40 years while maintaining an active role within the union until his passing.

He leaves his wife of 10 years, Hazel Warmouth; his children Linda Koeller, Laura Arney, Douglas (Patty) Laurent, Kathy Laurent and John Laurent; his 12 grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings James Laurent, John Laurent and Alice Chartrand.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marcella Laurent; infant son Joseph Anthony Laurent; his parents, John and Fern Laurent; and his sister Mary Byerley.

His family extends a special thanks to the Presence Hospice staff for their care and support.

A visitation for Charles will be held June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Morgan Memorial Home 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place June 6, at 10 a.m., at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 405 West Clark Street, Champaign.

Internment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Charles.
