CFD called to river

The Columbia Fire Department responded to a mutual aid request from the Prairie du Pont Fire Department for a fisherman in a boat that was out of fuel and stuck on a sand bar on the Mississippi River north of the Jefferson Barracks Bridge. The call for service went out at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The CFD rescue boat completed its assignment on the river at 5:30 p.m.

Columbia Assistant Fire Chief Jim Broshears said the stranded boat was actually more near downtown St. Louis and that the St. Louis Fire Department was able to assist the fisherman without further incident.
