Carl Clyde “Poppy” James | Obituary

Carl Clyde “Poppy” James, 79, of Waterloo, died Oct. 6, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Prairie du Rocher.

He was born March 16, 1934, in Morrison, son of the late Marion Clyde and Cora Ina James (nee Hussey).

He was united in marriage to Dolly Creely; she preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children Cora (Dave) James Madden of Prairie du Rocher, and Clyde (Joanna) James of Baldwin; step-children Debbie (Steven) Sadler Gill of Topeka, Kan., Julie (Jim) Lovely of Connecticuit, and Charles (Dana) Sadler of Cahokia; seven grandchildren, Holly (Dewayne Johnson) Michaels of Waterloo, John (Robin) Maier of Carbondale, James (Angie) Jolly of Ohio, and Jeremiah Madden, Jeremiah James, Kalistalah (Zach) Wetzel and Anthony Logan, all of Waterloo; eight great-grandchildren, Tabitha Michaels, Samantha Michaels, Alex Michaels, Andy Maier, Lona Maier, Lydia Maier, Veronica Maier and Faith Jolly; sisters Ann Sorcain, Ruby Hamilton, Genieve Delarosa and Virginia (Richard) Johnson, all of Morrison; brother Henry James of Morrison; and very special friends Sketter, Twinkie, Pebble and Zena.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter and two grandchildren.

All services will be private.

DeFabio Funeral Home in Waterloo handled the arrangements.
