The Valmeyer Fire Department was called out around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday to Ziebold Road near Bluff Road for a controlled burn that had begun to spread due to windy conditions. The fire was not causing immediate danger to any surrounding areas, but was beginning to approach an adjacent field.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather advisory for the area for high winds today and thunderstorms forecasted for later tonight.
