Adella Whelan

Adella Whelan (nee Vogel), 97, of Waterloo, died Feb. 27, 2013, in Red Bud.
She was born Sept. 3, 1915, in Burksville, daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Vogel (nee Bickelhaupt).
She was married to the late John Whelan; he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Whelan was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Waterloo, and the Mary & Martha Society. She was also a member of Waterloo Senior Center.
Survivors include daughters Delrose Descher and Delores (Earl) Kopp; grandchildren James (Joanne) Descher, John (Kay) Descher, Linda (Tom) Schnepf, Stacy Banker, Eric Kopp, Tania (Terry) Barbeau, Natalie Kopp, and Mark (Rachel) Kopp; great-grandchildrenĀ  Ryan (Erica) Banker, Michael Banker, Alyssa Banker, Ashley Myers, Victoria Schnepf, Kristin Myers, Grant Descher, Chloe Descher, Eva Descher, Mae Descher, Joseph Barbeau, Tyler Barbeau, Rebecca Barbeau, Steven Kopp and Bailey Kopp; great-great-grandchildren Dana Banker and Harley Barbeau; and sister-in-law Viola Whelan; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son-in-law James Descher, sister Lucille Vogel, and brothers Elmer Ruby and Harry Vogel.
Visitation and a funeral Mass were March 2, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Waterloo, Father Osang Idagbo officiating.
Interment followed at Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Waterloo.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Waterloo Senior Center Activity Fund, or in the form of Masses.
Arrangments were handled by Quernheim Funeral Home.
