Murlin R. “Bud” Dietzel

Murlin R. “Bud” Dietzel, 85, of Waterloo, formerly of Cahokia, died May 6, 2013, in Columbia.

He was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Shidler, Okla., son of the late Herman and Elizabeth Dietzel (nee Fleschmen).

He was married to Amy Dietzel (nee Allbright) for 58 years; she survives him.

Dietzel was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 38 years of service as a carman. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo and VFW Post 1699 in Cahokia. He was also a Boy Scout leader for many years.

Survivors include his wife; daughters Sandra (Donald) Moore of Cahokia, and Julie (Jim) Augustine of Waterloo; grandchildren Robert Moore of Waterloo, Chris Moore of Waterloo, Mike (Nikki) Moore of Cahokia, Jamie (Micah) Whaley of Columbia, Jessica Augustine of Waterloo and Jordan Augustine of Waterloo; and seven great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was May 8, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia.

Funeral services were May 9, at the funeral home, Rev. Tony Troup officiating.

Interment followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
