Joseph A. Harbaugh

Joseph A. Harbaugh, 56, of New Athens, died Jan. 12, 2013, in New Athens.

He was born Dec. 16, 1956, in Red Bud, son of Esther Harbaugh (nee Theobald) and the late Edward J. Harbaugh.

Mr. Harbaugh was formerly employed at Mitsubishi Motors in Bloomington. He was an avid sportsman (“It’s a good fry”)and lived his life by the teachings of Dr. Charles Stanley. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Hecker.

Survivors include his mother; son Jake Harbaugh; and brothers and sisters Ken (Sandy) Harbaugh, Virginia “Ginger” Alexander, Jim Harbaugh, Cheryl Harbaugh, Dave Harbaugh, and Mike (Krista) Harbaugh; along with aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister Karen M. Harbaugh and brother-in-law Gary Alexander.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 16, and 8 a.m. until time of service Jan. 17, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Jan. 17, at the funeral home, Pastor Matt Friz officiating.

Interment followed at St. Augustine Cemetery, Hecker.

Memorials may be made to Northern University Hospital Cancer Research.
