David Allen Wheat | Obituary

David Allen Wheat, 73, of Waterloo, died Oct. 22, 2013, in Waterloo.

He was born April 16, 1940, in Valmeyer, son of the late George E. and Amelia P. Wheat (nee Rubemeyer).

He was married to Jean Wheat (nee Sparwasser); she survives him.

Mr. Wheat served on the board of directors of State Bank of Waterloo. Due to his extreme love of vehicles, he started the family owned business Wheat’s Auto Body Inc. and Wheat’s Auto World Inc. in 1977. He was also a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.

Survivors include his wife; children Steve (Mary) Wheat, and Susan (Keith) Scheibe; grandchildren Zachary Wheat, Avery Wheat, Andrew Scheibe and Kaitlyn Scheibe; brother Marlin (Janice) Wheat; sisters- and brothers-in-law Shirley Wheat, Louise Gremmels, Arline Reed, Marlene (Richard) Buettner and Butch (Laurie) Sparwasser; and lifelong and devoted friend Charles Juelfs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Leonard, Robert and Wilbert Wheat, a sister in infancy, and his devoted dog Molly.

Visitation was Oct. 25, at Quernheim Funeral Home, and Oct. 26, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.

Funeral services were Oct. 26, at the church, Pastor James Watson officiating.

Interment followed at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be made to Salem-Baum Cemetery Association.
