Catherine Menke | Obituary

Catherine Menke (nee Schmidt), 98, of Waterloo, died Nov. 30, 2013, in Waterloo.

She was born March 15, 1915, in Kidd, daughter of the late William and Augusta Schmidt (nee Hoffmann).

She was married to Herman P. Menke; he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Menke was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Survivors include her children Ervin (Donna) Menke, Shirley Williams, Orville (Beverly) Menke, Robert (Mildred) Menke and Larry (Reba) Menke; daughter-in-law Shirley Menke; grandchildren Teresa Rusteberg, Pat Killingsworth, Michelle Gummersheimer, Dawn Kelley, Mike Williams, Tim Williams, Kathy Bujnak, Shryl Hamilton, Wayne Menke, Shelly Menke, Nicole Menke, Susan Stratman, April Kirkley, Danny Menke, Millie Menke, Steve Menke and Heather Griffin; 37 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; brother William C. (Lorene) Schmidt; and sisters-in-law Jean Menke and Maxine Schmidt; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Vernon Menke; son-in-law Elmer Williams; grandchildren Diane Menke, Donna Menke, Brian Menke, Bradley Manke and Tina Renee Hoggard; two great-grandchildren; and brother Elmer Schmidt.

Visitation was Dec. 2, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo, and Dec. 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Funeral services were Dec. 3, at the church, Pastor Tony Troup officiating.

Interment followed at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
