Alberta M. “Bertie” Rosenberg

Alberta M. “Bertie” Rosenberg, 91, of Red Bud, died July 23, 2013, in Red Bud.

She was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Red Bud, daughter of the late Albert and Florence Eisenbart (nee Disch).

She married Thomas Rosenberg on Dec. 25, 1941, in St. Louis; he preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1989.

Mrs. Rosenberg was a school teacher in Monroe County, mostly teaching third and fourth grades. She was also a homemaker. She loved to sew and quilt, was an excellent cook and loved to bake.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud and the Evening Guild. She was also a member of the Home and Community Extension in both Randolph and Monroe counties, and was a member of the Retired Teacher Association and several card clubs.

Survivors include her daughters Sherry (Ken) Gielow of Festus, Mo., and Diane (Rick) Stenzel of Red Bud; grandchildren Liz (Kyle) Dale, Sue (Jim) Bollmeier, Kate (Alan) Barnette, Quent (Amber) Stenzel, Cole Stenzel and Chris Stenzel; great-grandchildren Eliza, Lucy, Jack, Charlotte, Grace, Charlie, Brodie and Tessa; and sister Erna (Sturdy) Sharp of Monroe, La.

Visitation is Friday, July 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home, Red Bud, and July 27, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud.

Funeral services are July 27, at 11 a.m., at the church, Rev. Russell Koen officiating.

Interment will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Bud.

Memorials may be made to Red Bud Beautification or St. John’s Lutheran Church or School.
