WHS girls cross country ties for 12th at state

The Waterloo High School girls cross country team capped off a successful season by tying for 12th place in Saturday’s IHSA Class 2A state cross country meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

For the second straight year, Waterloo’s Jenna Schwartz qualified as an all-stater with her sixth place overall finish. Her time was 17:22. Last year as a freshman, Schwartz placed 24th.

Other Waterloo runners on Saturday were Sydney Haddick in 87th place at 18:59; Ella King in 99th place at 19:04; Colleen Sliment in 146th place at 19:38 and Libby Price in 148th place at 19:41.

The WHS girls cross country team last ran at state in 2007.
