Waterloo man facing felony drug charges

Police executed an arrest warrant Monday on a 48-year-old Waterloo man suspected of dealing drugs in the area.

Charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver (more than 500 but less than 2,000 grams) and possession of a firearm by a felon is Dwayne Metzger, 48, of Waterloo.

He remains in the Monroe County Jail with bond set at $50,000.

On Monday, members of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the¬†Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois arrested Metzger at 603 S. Church Street in Waterloo after conducting surveillance.

The arrest warrants were the result of a drug investigation in Waterloo conducted in May by the MCSD and MEGSI.

Additional  charges are pending in the investigation, Monroe County Sheriff Neal Rohlfing stated in a news release.
