Vehicle strikes power pole

Emergency personnel responded about 11:30 a.m. Sunday to a vehicle crash in the area of 7400 Deer Hill Road north of Foster Pond.

A driver told 911 he struck a utility pole after coming around a curve in the roadway. The pole was knocked down and was blocking the roadway.

The driver reported a rib injury, but declined medical transport from the scene.

Police said a 17-year-old male driving a 2003 GMC Duramax stated he was going around the curve when another vehicle was in his lane. The driver stated when he avoided striking the other vehicle, he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway, striking a utility pole with the passenger side of his vehicle.

An Ameren Illinois Power utility pole was knocked down in the crash.
