Tuesday injury crash in Columbia

Columbia police, fire department and EMS responded about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday to a vehicle crash in the 800 block of North Main Street.

A white Kia Soul driven by Murline Beggs, 75, of Columbia, slid off the roadway, struck a fire hydrant and collided with a landscape wall before going airborne and coming to rest in the front yard of a residence at 826 N. Main Street, police said. She was transported by ambulance to a St. Louis area hospital.

A witness told police that the vehicle was speeding and driving in the wrong lane when the crash occurred.
