Timothy J. Voss | Obituary

Timothy “Tim” J. Voss, 55, of Waterloo, died April 6, 2024, at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud.  

He was born to the late Harry and Jean (nee Junge) Voss on April 15, 1968, in Red Bud, Illinois.  

Tim married Deborah Grohmann on Sept. 20, 1991, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud; she survives.

Tim worked as a technology team leader at The Material Works in Red Bud for 35 years. He was also involved with Voss Auctions LLC for many years. 

He was a member of Frieden’s United Church of Christ in Hecker. Tim was very involved with his church; from mowing the lawn to fixing anything. 

Tim enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing, his tractors, mechanical work on lawnmower and being the “go-to” person to fix anything. His favorite role was being a grandpa. Tim never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. 

He is survived by his wife Deborah Voss of Waterloo; sons Zach (Ashley) Voss of St. Louis and Jake (Mackenzie) Voss of Columbia; granddaughter Oaklynn Voss; siblings Dennis (Donna) Voss of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Lela (Harvey) Koester of New Athens, Vernitta Wolter of Red Bud, Randall (Carolyn) Voss of Red Bud, Wayne (Jeanie) Voss of Red Bud, Nola Jean (Sam) Vallett-Stickler of Walsh, Mark (Angela) Voss of Red Bud, Stanley (Janel) Voss of Red Bud, Cindy Ebers of Red Bud, Bonnie (TJ) Marshall of San Antonio, Texas, and Pam (Mike) Henry fo Red Bud; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Verdella Voss and Thomas Voss,; brothers-in-law Floyd Wolter and Larry Ebers; nephews Keith Wolter and Matthew Voss; great-nieces Charlee Kennedy and Morgan Wolter; and in-laws Roger and Betty Grohmann.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. April 10 and 10-11 a.m. April 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud, 

A memorial service will follow visitation April 11 at the church with Rev. Mark Nebel officiating.

Memorials may be made to Frieden’s United Church of Christ, Hecker; St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud; American Heart Association; or family choice.
