Self-inflicted shooting death near Red Bud

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County EMS, Hecker first responders and the coroner responded after 2 p.m. Friday to a residence near Red Bud for a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound involving a man aged in his 40s.

The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit also responded, which is protocol in any incident involving a gun or untimely death.

The coroner’s office released the name of the man found deceased as Craig M. Range, 42. Funeral services for Range took place Monday.
