The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is baseball player Preston Wright of the Waterloo Buds in the Mon-Clair League. Wright, a Mascoutah High School graduate, hit .511 (24-for-47) during the regular season to lead the entire league in batting average. He hit seven doubles and was selected as an all-star to represent the Mon-Clair League.
