Columbia Police

Aug. 10

Joe W. Hosier Jr., 53, of Granite City, was charged with felony driving while license revoked (MDDP eligible) on North Main Street near East Temple Street.

Aug. 16

Shortly before 12:20 a.m., a silver 2015 Ford Edge was recovered at 2422 Lakeshore Drive after being reported stolen out of St. Louis. Detectives obtained a warrant and, shortly before 4 p.m., Meghan A. Williams 28, of Columbia, was arrested for unlawful possession of a converted/stolen vehicle. Williams was also arrested on a warrant for possession of dangerous drugs.

Aug. 19

Timothy L. Hughes, 42, of St. Louis, was arrested on Southport Drive on a St. Clair County warrant and for speeding.

Aug. 20

Kara N. Martin, 42, of Dupo, was arrested on an in-state warrant at The Falls, 300 Admiral Weinel Boulevard.

Illinois State Police

Aug. 16

The Columbia Fire Department, Columbia EMS and Columbia police assisted ISP in responding to the area of I-255 southbound near milepost 6 shortly after 1:30 p.m. for a semi tractor-trailer fire. The semi’s cab was fully engulfed upon firefighter arrival, but the flames were knocked down quickly. Two occupants of the truck evacuated without injury. The incident resulted in I-255 lane closures as crews worked the scene.

Monroe County Sheriff

Aug. 2

Roger T. Reitzell, 63, of Waterloo, was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm and criminal damage to  property ($500-$10,000). Court documents allege that on July 8, Reitzell shot a Panova 9 mm handgun in the direction of a neighboring property in the 8500 block of Naumann Drive, damaging a wall, siding, mattress, fence, medicine cabinet and picture frame.

Aug. 12

Tyler L. Albrecht, 25, of Marissa, was charged with felony driving while license revoked (MDDP eligible).

Aug. 20

No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle late morning crash on Route 156 just west of the Monroe County Fairgrounds. 

Waterloo Police

Aug. 13

Jamaria M. Lawrence, 29, of Belleville, was arrested for felony aggravated battery (victim over 60 years of age) following an incident involving two employees at Oak Hill Senior Care Center, 623 Hamacher Street. Court information alleges that Lawrence caused harm to a female victim by knocking her to the ground. 

Aug. 17

Waterloo police alerted neighboring agencies shortly after 3 a.m. about a red Chevrolet sedan with Missouri plates driving in the wrong direction on Route 3. As a result of the incident, Marco Perez-Castellanos, 23, of St. Louis, was charged with felony aggravated DUI (no valid license), two counts of aggravated fleeing/eluding police (21-plus miles per hour over the speed limit, disobeying two or more stoplights), reckless driving and resisting arrest. On the reckless driving charge, Perez-Castellanos is alleged to have committed his acts with “willful and wanton disregard” for the safety of others, per court information. On the resisting arrest charge, it is alleged he ran away from the arresting officer to avoid apprehension. Bond was set at $30,000 on this case.

Aug. 18

Michael Lott, 44, of Pevely, Mo., was arrested for felony retail theft (over $300) at Walmart, 961 N. Market Street. 

Aug. 19

Heather Aubuchon, 29, of Farmington, Mo., was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a hypodermic needle.

Aug. 20

Shawn P. Buckley, 41, of Waterloo, was arrested for residential burglary, aggravated assault (with vehicle) of a police officer, possession of methamphetamine, criminal damage to property and reckless driving. Court information alleges that Buckley unlawfully entered a dwelling place at 305 Westview Court with intent to commit an aggravated battery, yelling “kick your a–” and “I’m going to kill you.” Buckley is also alleged to have placed a police officer in “reasonable apprehension of being struck by a moving vehicle in that he backed his truck up at a high rate of speed toward the officer.” Buckley is also alleged to have damaged a window and struck a tree with his vehicle during the incident. Bond for Buckley was set at $100,000. 

Aug. 22

The Waterloo police and fire departments and Monroe County EMS responded at 4:50 p.m. to a vehicle in a field near the intersection of Halifax Drive and Route 3. The vehicle left the highway and struck a utility box near Halifax Drive. Information from radio dispatch communication suggested the crash may have been the result of a medical issue. City of Waterloo utility workers were called to the scene to check the utility box.
