Local crime news 1/3/14

ā€¢Waterloo police are investigating a couple of car break-ins that occurred Jan. 1 on the Waterloo Cinema parking lot. A GPS device was stolen from an unlocked vehicle, while the window was broken out of another vehicle. No items were reported missing from that vehicle.

ā€¢Columbia police are still investigating the recent rash of vehicle break-ins and residential burglaries that occurred Dec. 25-28. Call 281-5151 if you have any information. Click here for the original story.

ā€¢Waterloo police on Dec. 30 arrested Cory N. Jones, 22, of Freeburg, for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic syringe in the 300 block of West Fourth Street.

ā€¢Dwight A. Yates, 51, of Belleville, was arrested Dec. 30 by Illinois State Police for felony DUI (fifth offense) and felony driving while license revoked (eighth offense) following a traffic stop on I-255 southbound.
