The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Columbia High School basketball standout Karsen Jany. The 5-foot-9 junior guard was named to the all-tournament team of the recent Candy Cane Classic at Gibault. She scored 33 points in the tourney’s third place game. Jany is averaging nearly 15 points per game to lead the Eagles, including 38 percent shooting from three-point range. Jany is also averaging 5.5 rebounds per contest.
