Heat Advisory and Severe Weather Potential

St. Louis NWS image

Today will bring hot summer temperatures, with a strong possibility for heat index readings of 100+ degrees. Actual temps will likely reach the mid 90’s. The National Weather Service will issue a heat advisory for most of the STL metro area today at 12:00 p.m., which will last into the evening hours.

Due to the extreme heat and unstable atmosphere, there is a growing chance for strong to severe weather in the STL area this evening. According to the NWS, damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats with these storms. The highest risk area is just north of the STL metro area, with Monroe County in the moderate risk area.

We will update you throughout the day with any significant changes in the current outlook.
