The Columbia Fire Department was paged shortly after 1 p.m. Friday to provide a tanker and mutual aid for the Mehlville Fire Department for a series of brush fires along I-270 between Koch Road and I-55.

The Missouri Department of Transportation issued an automated alert that the northbound lanes of I-270 approaching 1-55 were experiencing congestion as crews worked to contain the blazes.
