Four-way stop approved at Moore and Illinois

The Waterloo City Council on Monday night voted to make the intersection of Moore Street at Illinois Avenue a four-way stop per the request of the Waterloo Fire Department, which operates out of its new fire station there.

The council also approved making the east side of that same intersection a no parking zone.

In August, Becky Levendoski, who lives at 311 N. Moore Street, requested a four-way stop at the intersection to help curb excessive speeding on that stretch of roadway.

She said two vehicles had been sideswiped outside of her home.

The matter was turned over to the city council’s street committee for further discussion at that time.

In other action from Monday night, the council approved a contract bid to Huebner Concrete Contracting for concrete work on the handicap accessible fishing pier at Lakeview Park in the amount of $26,730.
