Fatal crash on I-255 near Dupo

Illinois State Police were assisted by Dupo police and fire and other emergency personnel in responding to a fatal two-vehicle crash on I-255 near mile marker 9 in St. Clair County early Friday evening. The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m.

A vehicle driven by Linda T. Bloch, 57, of Delmar, N.Y., was merging onto I-255 southbound from Route 3 without its headlights on, police said, when it lost control and sideswiped another vehicle traveling southbound, resulting in a crash.

Bloch died of blunt force trauma sustained in the crash and two other occupants of her vehicle suffered minor injuries. Bloch was pronounced dead by an official from the St. Clair County coroner’s office at 6:20 p.m.

The other driver involved was transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County for treatment of injuries.
