Candy Cane Classic tips off at Gibault

Gibault Catholic High School opened up their annual Candy Cane Classic girls basketball tournament play Monday by defeating Waterloo, 45-41.

Kendra Davis led the Hawks in scoring with 18 while Hope Elliott scored 17 for the Bulldogs.

In other Monday action, Columbia girls basketball fell to Windsor, 53-48, in the first game of the Candy Cane Classic.

Local play in the tournament resumes Wednesday with Gibault taking on Windsor at 6 p.m., followed by Columbia vs. Waterloo at 7:30 p.m.
