Bright future for Hawks volleyball

The Gibault Catholic High School volleyball squad lost in the Class 1A Valmeyer Sectional championship game to Father McGivney on Halloween night, 25-22, 25-23. 

The Hawks finished their season with a record of 20-15. 

Father McGivney led 21-8 in the first set before the Hawks went on a 10-0 rally and closed the Griffins’ lead to 23-22. 

The sectional crown is Father McGivney’s first in any sport in just its third year of varsity competition.

“We just gave them too many unearned points with serve outs,” Gibault head coach Heather Lazarides said after the match. “I think (our players) were afraid of losing the game and playing to not lose instead of playing to win…>>>
