Barn fire south of Columbia
Multiple departments responded shortly before 10 a.m. Friday to a fully involved pole barn fire at 101 Hill Castle Court south of Columbia.
The barn, owned by Nathaniel Reinhold, was located behind a residence. Contents inside the structure included a vehicle and vehicle parts. Multiple tiny explosions could be heard from inside the burning barn, which Columbia Fire Chief Mike Roediger said were the tires blowing off of the vehicle.
Responding agencies included the Columbia, Waterloo and Millstadt fire departments.
The barn and all of its contents were destroyed in the blaze.
Roediger said there were multiple vehicles and a boat outside of the barn. Someone on the property was grinding something, resulting in sparks that started the blaze.
