Gibault High School pitcher Zach Neff is this week’s Republic-Times Athlete of the Week.

The Hawks junior left-hander, dominated last Saturday’s upset win over Columbia with a one-hit pitching performance.

Neff currently leads the team with a 4-2 record at the plate and an ERA of 2.00 with the most games pitched (eight games). He also leads the GHS pitching staff with 43 strikeouts on the 2013 season thus far.

He is second in the area with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 21.51, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s regional cumulative stats, only walking a batter twice all season.

Congrats Zach, keep up the good work!
