Lloyd, Davis | Athletes of the Week

Girls soccer players Erika Lloyd of Waterloo and Gibault’s Kendra Davis are this week’s Republic-Times Athletes of the Week.

Lloyd helped lead the Bulldogs to their, 7-1, Triad Regional Semifinal victory over Mascoutah Tuesday night with a game-high three goals and one assist. The freshman forward leads the local girls soccer scene on offense with 42 points, 15 goals, 12 assists and four game winning goals. Lloyd and the Bulldogs will face conference foe Triad in the Triad Regional Finals Friday at 5 p.m.

Davis has helped lead a Hawks stellar defense to the Freeburg Sectional Finals this season. The junior goalkeeper tops the area in the net with 80 total saves on the season so far, five of which coming Tuesday

night in GHS’ 2-0 victory over Mater Dei in the sectional semifinals. That marks Davis’ ninth shut-out win of the season and the team’s tenth. Going into Friday’s Freeburg Sectional Final against Alton Marquette at 7 p.m., Davis’ record stands at 12-5.
