The Waterloo Police Department said Tuesday that the public successfully helped them track down the name of a bad check suspect they were trying to identify on Monday.

“The public called in several leads,” Waterloo Police Chief Jim Trantham said. “We have him and he is being interviewed in reference to this and other incidents under investigation.”

Police sought assistance from the public in identifying a man who allegedly passed a bad check at a local gas station last month.

The bad check was passed on Aug. 31, a WPD detective said. The suspect purchased two Red Bull drinks and milk and received an undisclosed amount of cash back.
