WPD investigating rash of burglaries to vehicles

The Waterloo Police Department is investigating a number of burglaries to vehicles that occurred late Christmas Eve and early Christmas Day.

All the vehicles involved were unlocked, police said, and many were parked in residential driveways.  Among the items taken were cash, electronics, credit cards, checks and gift cards.

Anyone who may have observed suspicious behavior during that time period is asked to contact Waterloo police at 939-8651.

“We would like to remind everyone to lock their vehicles and put items of value out of sight. Use the trunk,” Waterloo Police Chief Jim Trantham said.

Some of the areas hit included subdivisions located off Lakeview Drive. Another person reported on Facebook that vehicle break-ins may have occurred in The Meadows subdivision.
