Missing 3-year-old located safely

A 3-year-old girl who went missing at 1 p.m. Wednesday from her home at 3330 Stringtown Road in Fults was located safely a short time later following a search conducted by emergency responders. Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Jim Lansing, who serves as a K-9 officer, said he was unable to utilize police dog Sari for the search as it was too windy to track a scent. Lansing credited Maeystown firefighter Randy Braun for guiding him to the little girl. Braun climbed a farm silo to get a higher view of the search area and was able to spot the girl in a bean field. Lansing said Braun helped direct him to the girl.

She had wandered from her home while chasing two puppies into a field and was located about 1.5 miles from the house. The girl was not injured.
