The Columbia Eagles football team completed a perfect regular season at 9-0 on Friday night, defeating Nashville on the road, 42-14.

The Eagles built up a 35-0 lead at halftime and never looked back from there. Coach Scott Horner’s team used its usual combination of a bruising running game and tenacious defense to outplay the Hornets.

In Waterloo, the Bulldogs faced a must-win situation at home against the Mater Dei Knights, and had a 3-0 lead early. But Mater Dei made the most of their opportunities and the Bulldogs couldn’t capitalize on theirs, and the Knights held on after a 21-3 halftime lead to end Waterloo’s season.

The final from WHS was 28-13.

In other local football action, Dupo ended its season with a loss on the road at Pinckneyville, 21-16.
