Columbia, Waterloo and Prairie du Pont were among several fire departments assisting Cahokia with a fire to a recently shuttered cleaning business at 313 Jerome Lane on Wednesday afternoon.

Flames broke out inside the former Cahokia Cleaners building shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Firefighters continued to battle heavy flames and smoke for a few hours. There is no word on what caused the blaze or if there were any injuries.

The Columbia Fire Department used its platform truck to attack the flames from high above the structure.

The Waterloo Fire Department supplied its tanker truck and additional manpower during the fire.
