Young man found dead at rural Waterloo farm

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is working with the coroner’s office to determine what caused the death of a 20-year-old man found deceased in a yard early Tuesday morning at Fairberry Farms, 5312 J Road.

An Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services unit provided assistance with the case — a common practice for police agencies dealing with an unexplained death.

Monroe County Coroner Vicki Koerber on Wednesday identified the deceased as Zeke L. Bielby. He was listed as a resident of Troy, Ill., as recently as last year.

“Autopsy and toxicology results are pending,” she said.

The call came in to police around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Monroe County Sheriff Dan Kelley said.  There was no indication the young man had been shot, nor were there any signs of blunt force trauma found on his body, he said.

“At this point we’re not sure how he died,” Kelley said. “We’re waiting for the autopsy as an indicator of where to start from.”
