Despite a warning to refrain from outdoor burning due to high winds and dry vegetation, the Columbia Fire Department responded about 6 p.m. Monday to a yard fire between two residences in the 1200 block of White Pines Circle off D Road.

A neighbor attempted to extinguish the flames prior to firefighter arrival, and the incident was reported to be under control within a short amount of time.
